Full Report
Apple announced a broad set of Apple Creator Studio updates on September 29, 2026, spanning image editing, video production, presentations, documents, spreadsheets, and digital whiteboards. Pixelmator Pro adds two template collections on Mac and iPad, including podcast artwork, while its iPad app gains Select and Mask controls for refining selections and masks around complex edges such as hair or fur.
For video editors, Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac can now apply Cinematic mode effects to video captured natively on iPhone 18 Pro. Editors can adjust focus points and depth of field in the Final Cut Pro timeline. Compressor adds an option to convert footage with Cinematic mode effects back to the previous format, plus HEVC and MPEG-4 export presets for social sharing.
Keynote, Pages, and Numbers receive new templates and themes. Keynote's intelligent slide generation can create images tailored to a presentation; Pages for Mac adds Screen View; and Numbers adds trigonometry, statistics, and logic functions. Users can also request access to shared files in those apps. Freeform adds Dark Mode adaptation, folders, collaboration options, and Apple Intelligence Writing Tools for rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing handwritten notes. In visionOS 27, Freeform users can bring multiple kinds of board content into their space and view 3D models together.
The software announcement followed Apple's September 22 statement that new Mac mini and Mac Studio models had begun becoming available. Apple did not link the announcements, but the timing places the Creator Studio changes alongside recent news about its Mac lineup.
Why This Matters
The changes span several stages of creative work, from refining selections on iPad to adjusting depth of field in a video timeline and moving Freeform content into a visionOS space. That makes the announcement more than a template refresh: users can identify concrete workflow changes across editing and collaboration apps, while Apple has also recently announced new Mac models.
