Full Report

Apple announced that the standard commission rate for Apple In-App Purchase and paid app transactions on the Taiwan App Store storefront will drop from 30% to 26% starting October 31, 2026. The change applies to iOS and iPadOS. Apple said it follows discussions with the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission.

Developers do not have to sign the updated terms by October 31 to receive the new rates from that date. Apple has revised the Apple Developer Program License Agreement to support updated policies, and developers can sign in to their accounts to accept the terms.

Apple says translations of the updated agreement will be available on the Apple Developer website within one month. The Taiwan announcement follows a separate regional commission change: in March 2026, Apple announced that the standard rate for the China mainland App Store storefront would fall from 30% to 25%, effective March 15.

Why This Matters

The four-percentage-point reduction changes the Apple commission applicable to these standard transaction categories on the Taiwan storefront. The new Taiwan rate is one percentage point above the standard rate Apple announced for mainland China; the storefronts and effective dates are distinct.
