Apple introduces OLED iPad mini with A20 Pro, arriving November 6
Apple has introduced a new iPad mini with an OLED display, an A20 Pro chip, IP67 water and dust resistance, and Apple Pencil Pro support. Preorders begin October 28, 2026, ahead of availability on November 6; the U.S. Wi-Fi model starts at $699.
Full Report
Apple has introduced a new iPad mini with an OLED display and A20 Pro chip in a thinner, lighter design. The display measures 8.5 inches and has an optional nano-texture finish. The device also carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and supports Apple Pencil Pro.
Apple's listed specifications for the previous iPad mini generation show an 8.3-inch LED-backlit Liquid Retina display and an A17 Pro chip. The new model therefore brings changes to both the display technology and processor while retaining Apple Pencil Pro compatibility.
Apple says preorders begin October 28, 2026, with availability starting November 6. In the U.S., the Wi-Fi model starts at $699 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model at $849. Apple also says the new iPad mini supports Siri AI; its newsroom announcement describes the feature as rolling out in beta with iPadOS 27.
The announcement turns earlier launch expectations into specific product and purchasing details. A report published August 30 had expected an OLED iPad mini by late October; Apple has now provided the key features, preorder and availability dates, and U.S. starting prices.
Why This Matters
The OLED display, A20 Pro chip, IP67 rating, and confirmed preorder and availability dates give shoppers concrete details for comparing generations and planning a purchase. Apple's U.S. starting prices also fill in a practical detail that the earlier launch report did not provide.
