Apple plans to expand its Harrodsburg, Kentucky, glass plant, adding 200 permanent jobs and more temporary work as production increases to supply iPhone glass.
Apple says the plant will expand production of glass for every iPhone and Apple Watch. It has sourced iPhone glass from Kentucky for 20 years and invested an additional $2.5 billion in the state one year before Apple COO Sabih Khan and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick toured Corning Inc. on Friday.
The expansion would increase Kentucky’s role in Apple’s device-glass supply while adding 200 long-term jobs and further temporary work during the production ramp. The source does not specify when the jobs will be added or how much the plant’s current workforce and output will grow.
