Apple’s New Mac mini and Mac Studio Went on Sale September 22
Apple said its new Mac mini models with M6 and M5 Pro, and Mac Studio models with M5 Max and M5 Ultra, began becoming available on September 22, 2026. U.S. starting prices are $899 for Mac mini and $2,499 for Mac Studio; the 512GB-memory Mac Studio configuration is expected in late October.
Full Report
Apple said the new Mac mini and Mac Studio began arriving to customers on September 22, 2026, and are available through Apple Store locations, Apple's online store, and the Apple Store app. Mac mini comes with M6 or M5 Pro, while Mac Studio is offered with M5 Max or M5 Ultra. U.S. starting prices are $899 for Mac mini with M6, $1,699 for M5 Pro, $2,499 for Mac Studio with M5 Max, and $5,499 for M5 Ultra.
Memory limits vary by configuration. Mac mini with M6 can be configured with up to 32GB of unified memory, while the M5 Pro model supports up to 64GB. Both include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb Ethernet option. Mac Studio with M5 Max supports up to 128GB of unified memory, and the M5 Ultra version up to 512GB; both have Thunderbolt 5. Apple says the 512GB Mac Studio configuration is expected to arrive in late October.
For some of its performance comparisons, Apple uses previous-generation M4 Mac mini and M3 Ultra Mac Studio systems as baselines. The new lineup spans M6 and M5 Pro options in Mac mini and M5 Max and M5 Ultra options in Mac Studio, with distinct price points and memory ceilings across the two desktop families.
Why This Matters
The two desktop lines are now available across a wide price and configuration range, from the $899 Mac mini with M6 to the $5,499 Mac Studio with M5 Ultra. For workflows that require substantial memory, the Mac Studio's 512GB maximum is a key specification, though that configuration is expected later than the rest of the lineup.
