Artemis Fowl Animated Series Greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+
Disney has greenlit an animated television adaptation of Artemis Fowl for Disney Channel and Disney+. Author Eoin Colfer will executive produce. The first novel was published in 2001, and the book series has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.
Full Report
Disney has greenlit an animated television adaptation of Artemis Fowl, planned for Disney Channel and Disney+. Author Eoin Colfer will executive produce the series. He announced the greenlight at the “25 Years of Artemis Fowl” panel at New York Comic Con on October 11, 2026.
The series follows 13-year-old genius Artemis Fowl as he discovers a hidden world of high-tech fairies. He sets out to capture one and steal its magic to save his family, bringing the books’ central clash between Artemis and the fairy world to television animation.
The first Artemis Fowl novel was published in 2001. Disney says the book series has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 48 languages. With the first book marking its 25th anniversary in 2026, the adaptation introduces the franchise in a new television format.
Why This Matters
The adaptation takes a book franchise with more than 35 million copies sold worldwide into animated television, with Disney Channel and Disney+ named as its planned platforms. Colfer’s executive-producer role also gives the author a direct connection to the adaptation.
