Claude Haiku 5.5 Arrives on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS
AWS says Claude Haiku 5.5 is now available on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. Anthropic positions it for subagents and high-volume, cost-sensitive work, and says it costs around 75% less than Claude Haiku 4.5 for most tasks.

Full Report
AWS announced that Claude Haiku 5.5 is available on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. Anthropic describes it as the fastest and most efficient model in the Claude 5.5 family, aimed at subagents and high-volume, cost-sensitive work. The company says it costs around 75% less than Claude Haiku 4.5 for most tasks.
The AWS post calls Haiku 5.5 Anthropic’s most capable Haiku model across coding, tool use, computer use, and agentic tasks. It supports agentic coding, multi-step tool use, and high-resolution images, and is the first Haiku model with effort controls. Amazon Bedrock usage appears on the AWS bill. Claude Platform on AWS provides Anthropic’s native platform experience through the AWS Management Console, with AWS billing and authentication.
Developers can call the model through the Anthropic Messages API or Bedrock’s Invoke and Converse APIs. In AWS GovCloud (US), it is available on both the bedrock-runtime and bedrock-mantle endpoints. The announcement follows AWS’s September 28, 2026, announcement that Claude Sonnet 5.5 had arrived on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS, adding another Claude 5.5 model option to those services.
Why This Matters
The announcement gives AWS users the model’s access paths, a stated cost comparison with Claude Haiku 4.5, and its GovCloud endpoint options. That information helps teams assess it for high-volume workloads and identify the interfaces available for integrating it into AWS workflows.
