Full Report

EA SPORTS FC 27 launched on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on September 25. Nintendo says the game features more than 21,000 real players, over 800 clubs and national teams, more than 130 stadiums, and over 35 leagues.

The new The Grounds mode is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Players can socialize in spaces that gather up to 100 players, take part in 1-vs-1 and 2-vs-2 matches, and play Kickabout activities that include dodgeball, basketball, and boccia. The mode also lets players create and customize an avatar.

Nintendo also highlighted gameplay changes including curved runs, dribbling through contact while off balance, a redesigned set-piece system, and rebalanced defensive AI with less automatic intervention. Manager Career has a revised transfer system: player market values can vary with factors such as club finances, player condition, potential, and rating, while negotiations may involve rival clubs and further talks. Nintendo notes that some modes and features require an internet connection and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Why This Matters

The game is available on both Switch generations, but The Grounds is limited to Nintendo Switch 2, making that mode a key version difference. Nintendo also flags online and membership requirements for some features.
