Square Enix Won’t Offer Switch 2 Upgrade Path for Octopath Traveler
gamespot.com wrote that the Octopath Traveler bundle will come to Nintendo Switch and be playable on Nintendo Switch 2, but existing owners won't get a paid or free upgrade route. The outlet noted that saves won't carry over, which could make the new release a tougher sell for series fans.
According to gamespot.com, Square Enix is planning a new Switch 2 version of Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 without an upgrade option for current owners. The package will still offer technical improvements for newcomers on Switch 2.
That means players who already own either game may have to buy again if they want the Switch 2 edition. It also highlights Square Enix's repeated refusal to offer upgrade paths for some HD-2D releases.
