GPT-6.1 Sol Is Now Generally Available on Amazon Bedrock
AWS says GPT-6.1 Sol is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock for agentic coding, computer use, and professional workloads. Citing OpenAI, AWS says the model matches GPT-6 Astra on DeepSWE v1.1 at roughly one-fifth the cost per task.

Full Report
AWS announced on September 29, 2026, that GPT-6.1 Sol is generally available on Amazon Bedrock. The company positions the model for agentic coding, computer use, and professional work, including workloads that run frequently.
For software engineering, AWS cites OpenAI as saying GPT-6.1 Sol matches GPT-6 Astra on DeepSWE v1.1 at roughly one-fifth the cost per task. The comparison concerns the cost of completing a task, not simply the price of an individual model interaction; results can vary with the workflow and use case.
Customers can use the model through the Amazon Bedrock console or supported APIs. AWS says customers can manage access with IAM, audit model invocations through CloudTrail, and use VPC endpoints powered by AWS PrivateLink to keep traffic within network boundaries. AWS also says inference data is not used to train the model.
The launch follows AWS’s September 28 announcement that Claude Sonnet 5.5 was available on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. For teams already using Bedrock, the back-to-back additions provide more model choices to assess for coding and knowledge-work workflows on the platform.
Why This Matters
For teams deploying AI agents in coding or routine workflows, task costs and operational controls both matter. GPT-6.1 Sol adds another model option within Amazon Bedrock’s access and auditing framework. AWS’s cited cost comparison offers a point of reference, but does not establish that every workload will see the same economics.
