IBM Announces Acquisition of UK Cybersecurity Consultancy Logiq Consulting
IBM says Logiq will add cybersecurity and secure-transformation capabilities for UK defence, critical infrastructure, and public-sector work, complementing the expertise of IBM-owned SiXworks.
Full Report
IBM UK announced on September 24, 2026 that it had acquired Logiq Consulting. IBM describes the UK cybersecurity consultancy as NCSC-assured and experienced in highly regulated environments, including the UK defence industry, critical national infrastructure, and the wider public sector.
Logiq's capabilities span cybersecurity assurance, Secure by Design, secure systems engineering, digital transformation, and secure managed services. IBM says these capabilities extend IBM Consulting's cybersecurity transformation portfolio and complement the defence and public-sector digital transformation expertise of SiXworks, an IBM company.
Logiq also developed and operates DISX, a managed sovereign collaboration platform for secure information exchange between government suppliers and UK Government and Defence organisations. The platform is designed to let customers maintain control over where and how information is managed, adding a concrete secure-collaboration capability to the services IBM outlined in the announcement.
The deal follows IBM's July 2024 announcement that it had acquired SiXworks, a UK consultancy focused on digital transformation in highly secure environments. IBM is positioning Logiq's cybersecurity expertise alongside SiXworks' transformation experience for defence and public-sector clients. IBM did not disclose the transaction's financial details.
Why This Matters
For organisations working in UK defence, government, and critical infrastructure, the announcement identifies specific capabilities—security assurance, Secure by Design, and controlled information exchange—that are relevant to transformation in highly secure settings. The acquisition also pairs Logiq's cybersecurity focus with the UK defence-sector digital-transformation expertise IBM previously added through SiXworks.
