9to5Mac outlines four reported or expected iPhone 18 Pro advantages over iPhone Ultra: a variable-aperture Main camera, longer battery life for iPhone 18 Pro Max, Face ID, and Telephoto cameras.
The report says iPhone 18 Pro may get a variable-aperture Main camera, while iPhone Ultra is expected to omit the feature because of its ultra-thin design. iPhone 18 Pro Max is reportedly expected to use a battery 10% larger than the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery and benefit from efficiency gains in the A20 Pro and C2 chips. The report also presents the traditional single-display design as a potential user advantage, while noting that the aperture implementation and iPhone Ultra battery life remain uncertain.
If the reported differences materialize, the choice between iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra could involve more than thickness: camera control, battery endurance, biometric authentication, and telephoto shooting may also differ. The reported battery and efficiency gains could position iPhone 18 Pro Max as the more endurance-focused high-end option.
Current confidence for this signal is 53/100; we continue to monitor additional independent sources to adjust the assessment.
Start with the primary evidence, then review supporting sources and context.

“Apple is about to unveil its flagship new iPhones: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra . Price will be an obvious advantage for the Pro line, but here are several other ways iPhone 18 Pro will have an edge over the more expensive Ultra model.”
