Full Report
Nintendo Switch 2 updates system version to 23.0.0, released on September 10, 2026.
Version 23.0.0 adds several game chat functions. Users can enter a newly started game chat without selecting a friend, and game chats they have joined in the past now appear in the list of chats they can enter. The menu displayed with the C Button also adds a button for changing the screen size.
The update supports VRR output in TV mode. Updating the Nintendo Switch 2 dock is required to enable VRR output. When both the software and television support the function, video is output at a refresh rate matched to the game’s processing. Television sound settings are also saved separately for each connected television.
Version 23.0.0 also supports “Transfer Your Data” between Nintendo Switch 2 systems, allowing save data and screenshots, among other items, to be transferred to a new system. A “Settings” option has been added to the virtual game card list screen, where users can check the registration status of the systems being used and other information. Accessibility voice readout now supports Brazilian Portuguese, and Brazilian Portuguese has also been added to the text-to-speech languages for game chat.
Why This Matters
The update removes a restriction on entering new game chats and makes screen-size controls easier to access during chat. Nintendo Switch 2 users can check and install it under Settings > System > System Update.
