Full Report

At an October 7 event in San Francisco, NVIDIA and Microsoft described their work to co-engineer hardware and software for AI agents on Windows PCs. Microsoft also announced the general availability of Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), which NVIDIA describes as OS-level infrastructure for agents to run safely and persistently in the background under operating-system control.

RTX Spark combines an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU and an NVIDIA Grace CPU, with up to 6,144 GPU cores and up to 20 CPU cores connected at 600 GB/s. NVIDIA says the system delivers one petaflop of FP4 AI performance, up to 128GB of unified memory, and the full NVIDIA CUDA platform. Laptops are scheduled to be available October 16, while compact desktops are scheduled for sale in November. The listed system makers are Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, and Gigabyte. NVIDIA describes the compact desktop configuration as a dedicated local AI system designed for 24/7 operation.

NVIDIA also previewed DGX Station for Windows, which it describes as bringing GB300 Grace Blackwell-class infrastructure into the Windows ecosystem. Powered by the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip, it is specified with 748GB of coherent memory and up to 20 petaFLOPS of FP4 AI compute. NVIDIA says it can run models up to a trillion-parameter scale locally. The article adds that Linux AI toolchains remain accessible through WSL when needed.

The NVIDIA article gives conflicting preorder timing for RTX Spark laptops: its body says preorders are open today, while the opening summary says preorders open October 16. This preview does not treat the preorder date as settled; the October 16 availability date is retained as stated in the article body.

Why This Matters

The announcement pairs an execution environment for Windows agents with local-compute hardware spanning RTX Spark and DGX Station. That gives readers a clearer view of how the companies are bringing AI workloads to Windows PCs, with RTX Spark positioned as a local AI system and DGX Station specified for substantially larger local models. NVIDIA has also previously described PAIR, which lets supported Apple Silicon Macs send local AI workloads to NVIDIA RTX PCs and DGX Spark systems, showing that its local-AI setup extends across more than one device type.

NVIDIA, Microsoft Kick Off a New Beginning for Windows PCs With RTX Spark and AI Agents

    Gerardo Delgado

“At a Microsoft event in San Francisco on Wednesday, Jensen Huang and Satya Nadella outlined how NVIDIA and Microsoft are co-engineering hardware and software for AI agents to run on Windows PCs. NVIDIA was founded because of Windows, Huang said. Now AI agents are coming to Windows. “If you look at the entire journey of [...]”
