OpenAI Says Chatham Financial Cut Trade Validation From 30 Minutes to Under Four

OpenAI says Chatham Financial is using Codex and GPT-5.6 across internal and client-facing tools, with its Process Zero work reducing trade validation from 30 minutes to under four.

Full Report

OpenAI’s Chatham Financial case study says the capital-markets advisory firm is using Codex to build internal and client-facing tools and GPT‑5.6 to power AI features. The work spans its next-generation operating system Chatham Onyx and its Process Zero reengineering service. OpenAI says Process Zero reduced trade validation from about 30 minutes to under four.

Chatham Onyx routes work across GPT‑5.6 Sol, GPT‑5.6 Terra, GPT‑5.4 and GPT‑4.1 based on task complexity and cost. Another capability, ChatFIN, summarizes patterns in historical market data, helps users understand portfolios, and locates and links to legal documents covering debt, derivative and lease terms.

OpenAI says Chatham also uses AI for structured comparisons, evidence organization, exception identification and information exploration so advisers can spend more time on interpretation and difficult cases. Chatham plans to expand trade validation to additional products, continue refining employee-built applications and use Codex to add capabilities to Onyx.

Why This Matters

The case provides a quantified workflow outcome and shows Chatham routing work across multiple models rather than relying on a single model, which is particularly relevant for accuracy- and audit-sensitive financial workflows.
