Pokémon Team Masters Sets First Event for Seoul in January 2027, with Three-Player 3v3 Battles
The first Pokémon Team Masters event will take place in Seoul, South Korea, in January 2027, as a Pokémon Trading Card Game competition. The announced format has three Trainers on each team competing in 3v3 battles.
Full Report
Pokémon has announced Pokémon Team Masters, a team-format competition whose first event is scheduled for January 2027 in Seoul, South Korea. The inaugural competition will feature the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Under the format described in the announcement, Trainers form teams of three and face opposing teams in 3v3 battles. That makes team play a defining part of the event rather than simply placing individual competitors in the same competition.
The announcement directs readers to an event page for further details and applications. The confirmed essentials for the first event are its location, month, TCG focus and three-player team format.
Why This Matters
The announcement specifies the team size and battle format: three Trainers per side in 3v3 competition. That gives prospective participants a concrete sense of how Pokémon Team Masters differs in format from individual competition, while confirming that the first event is focused on the TCG.
