Star Fox Gets Free Switch 2 Update with Four-Player Battles and Three New Stages

Full Report

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Fox received a free update on September 30, 2026. Battle Mode now supports split-screen play for up to four people on one console, including online team battles played from that console. The update also adds three stages.

The new stages have a slightly higher chance of appearing in random matches through October 19, 2026, at 16:59. That gives players a limited window in which they are more likely to encounter the added arenas through random matchmaking.

The update arrives alongside two other Star Fox offerings: the game’s full soundtrack is available on Nintendo Music, and Nintendo Today! provides four Arwing origami patterns—one each for Fox, Falco, Slippy, and Peppy—with folding instructions.

Star Fox launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. This update expands the existing game’s Battle Mode with more ways to play locally and online, while the music release and origami patterns extend the game’s content beyond the console.

Why This Matters

The update adds a straightforward way for up to four players to share a single console for local or online team battles, while the soundtrack and origami patterns offer additional ways to engage with Star Fox outside the game.
