The free Nintendo Switch 2 update for Star Fox became available on September 29, 2026. It expands Battle Mode with three stages—Katina, Sector X, and Venom—and adds split-screen play for up to four people on one console.
The multiplayer additions also extend online play: players can team up through split-screen and enter online battles using a single Nintendo Switch 2. That gives people sharing a console a way to join online matches together, as well as play against one another locally.
The update builds on earlier post-launch additions. Nintendo’s support history lists Ver. 1.1.0, released June 24, 2026, as adding Battle Mode, Avatar Settings, and Easy Campaign Mode difficulty. The latest update broadens Battle Mode with more stages and additional ways for players to take part.
