Full Report

In an October 16, 2026 update, Nintendo detailed more of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22. The game features 12 sports and allows players to compete solo or with a friend, in person or online. Its setting is Wuhu Island, a resort with tourist attractions and sports facilities.

Thumb Wrestling is won by pinning an opponent’s thumb for three seconds. In Skateboarding, players use a Joy-Con 2 controller as a mouse to grind rails, slide and perform aerial tricks. Returning sport Power Cruising lets players steer with a pair of Joy-Con controllers and twist a controller for a boost. Other examples include wind affecting Archery shots, adding spin to Bowling throws by twisting the controller, and tilting the controller to speed up, roll and fire at balloons in Prop Plane.

Nintendo lists the game’s regular price at $49.99 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle’s regular price at $529.99. Nintendo announced that bundle on August 25, 2026; it includes a full game download and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a Nintendo Account and internet access, and are not available in all countries.

Why This Matters

The new details add the standalone game price and specific control mechanics to information already reported about the launch date, platform and sports lineup. Those details help players assess both the purchase cost and how the new activities will play; the hardware bundle itself had already been announced in August.
